Episode 182 - An Image of Submission

As a Child of God, we are called to be many things. Continuing our walk through the Sermon on the Plain, we find that we are to be something that society today, and really from nearly the beginning of the creation of man, tells us we aren't supposed to be - submissive. Submission in today's vernacular is synonymous with weakness, but that is the opposite of what a man or woman submitting him or herself to God, is. 

Join us today as Pastor Jason shows us what Jesus had to say about our submission to Him as our Lord, and how to test if we are submitting to Christ, or gratifying self.

Episode 181 - An Image of Truth

Continuing in the Sermon on the Plain, we find Jesus continuing to instruct His disciples about how to be His disciple. At no time should we, followers of Jesus, expect a life of ease, leisure, and acceptance (some would argue that this could indicate other issues with one's witness). On the contrary, we know that we will have trouble, we know that the world will hate us, because it first hated Jesus. So how were they...how do we respond when someone "strikes us on the cheek" - figuratively, or literally?

Episode 180 - An Image of Apostleship

Oftentimes people believe that they need to clean up their lives before even attempting to follow a religious belief. Unfortunately, many religions put the burden back on the individual to do more, try harder, be better! And although as Christians, we are absolutely responsible for our own sin, and we are definitely supposed to strive for Christ-likeness, we are just as certain that it is not our job, nor can we, save ourselves. And just as no amount of works will save us, no amount of sin can disqualify us from the salvation offered through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. 

 

This truth is no better illustrated than through the selection, by Jesus Himself, of His inner circle - those men that we would later know as the Apostles. These were not at all what the religious leaders of the day, or the common person of the day, would think of as even being worthy to be near the Messiah, let alone His most trusted companions on this earth. Join Pastor Jason as he shows us who these Apostles were, who we are, and who Jesus is.

When Jesus fed the 5000, it was for a much larger purpose than just to miraculously feed a large number of people, although that alone would have been enough reason. Jesus was teaching, He was teaching his disciples, He was teaching us. Jesus was showing us that not only can He provide food, and food in over-abundance, but He has so much more...that we want, that we need.
