Since the time the perfect Law was given to Moses, man has tried to better those laws by adding, subtracting, modifying, and tweaking the laws. This practice was most evident with regard to the laws the Pharisees enforced at the time of Jesus. And this endeavor by some continued as the Church was born, and still continues today. At no point has man improved on the laws - we have only made them worse by adding to them, by making them impossible to even attempt to keep, by redefining them in ways they were never intended. Unfortunately, many churches today - either by choice, or by ignorance, continue the practice of heaping rules on top of the Gospel, works on top of Grace, and as a result cause confusion and frustration. This is not what was ever intended.
Join Pastor Jason as he discusses the problems of legalism, how Jesus addressed this issue, and how this applies to us today.

Happy Easter! He is Risen! He is Risen Indeed!
Today we are celebrating the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ! This event marks the key difference between all other religions and Christianity...our Prophet, Priest, and King is alive. Because of the resurrection, the conquering of sin, death, and Hell, all of God's image bearers have the potential to become children of God. He has provided a way for eternal life with Him, if we only repent and believe - put our full faith in Him. In short, He has provided salvation to all who believe.
Join Pastor Jason, as he leads us through the scriptures, celebrating the promise of new life, eternal life, that is woven throughout the entire Bible.

This Sunday, Pastor Jason continues through the study of the Gospel of Luke, looking at Levi, the despised tax collector. Contrary to all custom, all civility, and seemingly all common sense, Jesus not only speaks with Levi, but calls Levi to follow Him. Associating with a tax collector was just not to be done, but Jesus looks not at the surface, but at the heart, and had very specific plans for this man.
Levi immediately accepted this call, but as for him, the same holds true for us...this doesn't mean that everything will fit the human definition of perfect, or even better, but it does mean that we can rejoice in a relationship, in a hope, in a faith that transcends human understanding.

Grace is defined as unearned, undeserved favor and kindness (or a variation of this). Grace can't be bought, it can't be taken, and it can't be earned...only God can grant grace to any of us, and only God will grant grace to those He will. In no way are we involved with obtaining grace, lest it be part of our works, which results in pride.
But if God alone is the granter of grace, why should we bother helping others or telling others about Christ? Does grace mean we will have an easy life, and if so, does that mean that God has removed His gift from our lives when we fall on hard times, or go through periods of doubt, sin, or despair? What is grace there for...what do we "do" with grace? Join Pastor Jason as he relates what God's Word shows us about grace.
