We often hear that Christ is the King, the King of Kings, but have you ever wondered, "King of what?" Or maybe you've wondered what comes with this "Kingship". Maybe you envision Jesus as an impersonal being, high above us, on His golden throne, too large, too important to care about you.
Although Jesus is "high above us", He is not an impersonal King. He is very invested in our world, He is very involved in even our individual lives. His role as King covers all areas of this world, our individual souls (assuming you are born-again), and all of eternity.
Join Pastor Jason as he delivers a message of the infinite power and unending love that Christ has for His Children, and the hope that we can have in all situations in our lives, because Jesus is King.

In a world that seems out of control, God has not become less sovereign. His control over this world has not diminished one bit. Also in these days of seeming chaos, the call for the Christian has not changed either. We still have a mission...to spread the Gospel to a world desperately in need of hope.
Today, Pastor Todd McClure shows us how these two things are not mutually exclusive. In fact, God is very sovereign in the realm of missions. This is clearly displayed in the account of Jonah. God had a mission for Jonah and that mission would be accomplished. Join us as Pastor Todd walks us through Jonah 3, using Romans 10:13-15 as our guide to see how God sovereignly controls the entire spectrum of missions.

After the Easter season, with the preparation, the festivities, the various church services, we often come to the next Sunday and ask, "now what?". Well, the power of Christ didn't, and hasn't stopped!
Although the Ascension of Christ took Jesus away physically, from humanity, the promises He left with us and for us are what has allowed the Church as a whole to thrive, even in the face of the most vile of opposition.

CHRIST IS RISEN! HE IS RISEN INDEED! All of us at Highlawn Baptist Church would like to wish all of you a very Happy and Blessed Easter! But that begs the question...why? This world at the best of times is "difficult" to say the least, and if you look at the past year, I would dare say we've all had our difficulty turned up by quite a bit. Yet, we still have the ability to be happy, to be joyful, to rejoice in the Hope that Easter brings because we have an empty tomb to celebrate!
Lots of men have been born on earth (only one born of a virgin).
Lots of men have lived life (only one lived a sinless life).
Lots of men have been wrongly accused, unjustly tried, and sentenced to death (only one stood completely silent in the face of His accusers).
Lots of men have been executed (only one brought about earthquakes, a massively tall and thick woven "curtain" to be torn from top to bottom, darkness in the middle of the day, the dead to rise, and unbelievers believe)
Lots of men have been sealed in a tomb...
ONLY ONE HAS LEFT THAT TOMB!
Jesus is alive, the only prophet, the only man, the only human ever claiming to be God that is in fact alive today! That borrowed tomb couldn't hold Jesus, and because our God is alive today, the born again children of God enjoy all the promises associated with a God who holds the very keys of life and death!
Join Pastor Jason as we celebrate Easter Sunday and the Promise of the Empty Tomb!

Palm Sunday is not just the day that Jesus entered Jerusalem. It is the day when a prophecy of Ezekiel identified the King of Kings. It is the day when the people of God shouted the words of Psalm 118 Hosanna (“Lord Save Us”). It is the day when the Passover Lamb from 1 Corinthians 5 was examined and found to be “without spot or blemish.”
We celebrate this day because, as the people of God made a sacrifice for freedom in the Old Testament, God provided one in the New.
