Episode 111: Saved Through Christ
Sunday Jan 24, 2021
Sunday Jan 24, 2021
The nice thing about being saved, is that once you're saved...that's it! That's all you have to do - you've "done your part" as it were...right? Hopefully you've answered "no" to this question, or at least thought about how that doesn't sound "quite right". No, you are not saved as a "final step", you are actually saved as a first step. Once God opens your eyes and regenerates your heart, leading to salvation, you are now "saved from something, to something".
Join us today as Pastor Jason helps us understand from God's Word, what that "something" and "something" is.

Episode 110: Outside of Christ
Sunday Jan 17, 2021
Sunday Jan 17, 2021
God loves you...just the way you are! He just can't get enough of you! He just wants to pinch your cheeks and... Had enough yet? I know I have! Unfortunately these days, many individuals with pastoral degrees are telling their congregations very similar statements to those above. We have become a people, speaking in generalities, that believe we're "good enough", we believe that our mistakes and oopsies aren't sin, we believe that God's cool...he knows we're trying hard, he knows who we are in the inside, and similar nonsense. The Evangelical world has found itself complicit in this with trying to make church hip, and cool, and non-judgmental, and more resembling of the world around us...and essentially, "not...church".
The reality is - if you're Outside of Christ, you are on your way to Hell. If you're not saved, if you haven't repented of your egregious sin against a Holy God and believed in the Jesus described in the Bible wholly and completely, you are dead, you are a slave to sin, you are in danger of the full outpouring of God's wrath on you, upon your death.
To some, that is too harsh...it sounds mean, unfair. The question is, "Are those statements true?" Please join Pastor Jason as he walks us through what the Bible says about our lives, our destiny, if we're Outside of Christ.
Editor's Note: If any of you find yourself on the outside, looking in, although it's not required to have a Pastor pray over you, or guide a prayer of repentance, if you feel that you'd like someone to talk to, to find out more - feel free to visit our website at www.HighlawnBaptistChurch.org, find the contact info, and write, email, or call...Pastor Jason would love to speak to you.

Episode 109: Christ in the World
Saturday Jan 16, 2021
Saturday Jan 16, 2021
Editor's Note: After a holiday spent with family and friends, I am now working on catching back up with the messages that have been given, but not uploaded. Over the course of this week I'll be working on catching up with both the podcast and YouTube videos, with the goal to be "back on schedule" by Sunday morning, January 17, 2021. Thank you for you patience!
Happy New Year! Welcome to 2021! As was proven in 2020, we have no idea what this year may bring, but we can praise the Almighty, Sovereign God we have complete assurance that He is in control, and our hope lies not in the things of this world, but in Heavenly things, the things of God.
Today Pastor Jason, as he does the beginning of every new year, read the church covenant (not included in this podcast), and asked the church to reaffirm their commitment to the language contained therein. He then transitioned into our covenant as Born Again Believers in Jesus, specifically one aspect of our covenant - Discipleship.
To truly be a disciple of Christ, we must first be saved...and then after that, there are a few specific things we should strive to perfect over the course of our lives. To neglect the Pathway of Discipleship is to turn our backs on our Christian duties - which not only deprives the world of another voice for God, but damages and hardens our own hearts and lives.
Join Pastor Jason as he discusses how we can be Christ in the World...how we can walk down the Pathway of Discipleship.

Wednesday Jan 13, 2021

Over the course of this week I'll be working on catching up with both the podcast and YouTube videos, with the goal to be "back on schedule" by Sunday morning, January 17, 2021. Thank you for you patience!
Note: Message is preceded by the lighting of the final Advent candle - The Christ Candle - Presented by Jenny and Pastor Jason Robbins. (This candle is normally lit during our Christmas Eve candlelight service - due to a winter storm bringing freezing rain and snow, that service was cancelled for the safety of our members, thus the lighting was performed on the first Sunday after Christmas).
The Sunday after Christmas, known as "Epiphany", principally celebrates the visit of the Magi, or Wise Men who had followed the star to see the Christ child. We know certain things - the Wise Men were kings, there were three of them, and they were there with the shepherds and the angel and the newly born baby Jesus...or is that what we "know"? The story of the Wise Men has been "Sunday School-ized" and packaged to fit neatly in our Nativity scene, but the truth of the Wise Men is not as is generally portrayed.
Join us as Pastor Jason discusses the visit of the Wise Men, separating fact from story, culminating in a most important question that the Wise Men answered, and we must answer for ourselves. A question in which our answer carries eternal implications.

Episode 107: Love Came Down at Christmas
Sunday Dec 27, 2020
Sunday Dec 27, 2020
Note: Message is preceded by the Fourth Sunday in Advent - "Love" - Presented by Linda and Roger Jarrett
The fourth Sunday in the Advent season celebrates "love". That term, in English, is surprisingly controversial. It can mean so many things, and many of those meanings have been used and abused so much that just saying the word, "love" can invoke negative reactions among many of us.
The love that is celebrated on this Sunday, and the love that God has for His children, is the Greek word "Agape". This is a love that does not abuse, does not misuse, does not think of self first...it is a self-sacrificing, giving, unquenchable love, a perfect love. This is why Jesus came to earth, to give His children the way to Him, because of His love for us.
Join us as Pastor Jason shows us what the Bible says about why Jesus came, why we should love as Jesus loves, and how we can show the love of Jesus to others.
As this will be the last podcast of the year, and will be released just after Christmas, we at Highlawn Baptist Church, in Saint Albans, WV, would like to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas, a blessed New Year, and the Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love that can only be found through salvation by Grace through Faith in Jesus Christ.
