Episode 90: A Call to Biblical Living
Sunday Aug 30, 2020
Sunday Aug 30, 2020
In the second message in Pastor Jason's current short sermon series regarding the church's prophetic ministry to the world, we look primarily at a small section of the writing of the minor prophet, Micah.
Although Micah's words were specifically directed toward the Israelites, the chosen people of God, those same words can easily be applied to the church in toto, today. The Lord requires three things from us today, as He did back in Micah's time: "...to act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God." (Micah 6:8 NIV).
Join Pastor Jason as he outlines the Biblical meaning and application of those three requirements for the church today, given 2700 years ago by God to Micah, for His people.

Episode 89: A Voice to the People of God
Sunday Aug 23, 2020
Sunday Aug 23, 2020
Throughout the Old Testament, we hear of stories of the "prophets". For most, the word "prophet" invokes the image of an aged, robed, bearded, wizardly looking man that would divine the future. Applying the term to the Old Testament simply adds God into the mix. But is this what a prophet was? Was that their function? What about the New Testament, and on into today? Do we have prophets today? If so, is their function to futurecast?
There is much misconception as to the role of prophets - both in history and today. Join Pastor Jason as he outlines what the Bible tells us of the true role of the prophet in the Old Testament on through to today, and how today's Christian is called to fulfill that true role.

Episode 88: Fighting for Joy During Hard Seasons
Sunday Aug 16, 2020
Sunday Aug 16, 2020
Contrary to what some in the Evangelical world would have you believe, being a Christian does not mean that we will be blessed with health, wealth, prosperity, ease, and comfort. Although that life is possible, a simple look into the Bible, into history, and at our current world will clearly reveal that hard seasons are not uncommon in the life of the believer. As a Christian we may not always be happy with our circumstances, but we have a never ending source of joy. But what happens when seasons of life make it hard to see and draw from that wellspring of joy?
The author of Psalms 42 and 43 was clearly going through a hard season in his life. Join our guest speaker, Pastor Todd McClure, as he walks through five main themes found in these Psalms, that help the believer fight for joy during the hard seasons of life.
Guest Speaker: Pastor Todd McClure, Minister of Missions and Finance, West Virginia Baptist Convention

Episode 87: Following God in Uncertain Times
Sunday Aug 09, 2020
Sunday Aug 09, 2020
For the first time in history, we as humanity, and we as Christians are living in uncertain times! Well, that's not entirely true. In fact, that's not true at all. People in general, and the people of God, have been living in uncertain times almost since time began. Regardless of the circumstances of the current era, life can be, and likely will be "messy". So, how do we respond, and how does the Christian continue to follow God when it seems like all around you is chaos.
Join our guest speaker, Rev. Evan Arkell as he relates the story of Nehemiah, and the "mess" that he and his fellow Israelites were facing, while still managing to follow God, and how we can directly apply the actions of Nehemiah to our current "messy" lives.

Episode 86: Three Lessons for the People of God
Sunday Aug 02, 2020
Sunday Aug 02, 2020
As Pastor Jason continues through the book of John, we come nearer to the end of the earthly ministry of Jesus. Jesus is preparing his disciples (and eventually by extension, His Church), for the future. He is carefully laying out the vision for the Church, for the people of God. In the message today, Pastor Jason breaks down a portion of the last "lesson" that Jesus teaches the disciples, the commonly used passage regarding the Vine and the branches, into three key points that they, and we, must follow to truly be called "His", and to truly be His Church.
The planned message today is preceded by a short, impromptu message of hope and inspiration from Romans 8, given by Pastor Jason for these continuing uncertain times.

Episode 85: God's Power in Uncertain Times
Sunday Jul 26, 2020
Sunday Jul 26, 2020
Everywhere you turn these days, you hear about the crazy times we're currently in. It's in the news, it's on social media, it's on the lips of about everyone you meet. Surely these are the most unique times in history! But no. Although these are some wild times, mankind has always had "unique times", and that includes the very start of our Christian faith. The disciples, soon to be Apostles, while with Jesus, and as they started the early church, faced persecution and opposition at every turn. But just like back then, God is with us even today, enabling us to be victorious no matter what the circumstances in our present day.
Join Pastor Jason as he discusses four specific areas that we can clearly see and know, that God is with us - His Power, His Provision, His Peace, and His Love.

Episode 84: Be Changed and Bring Change
Sunday Jul 19, 2020
Sunday Jul 19, 2020
Today we celebrated the graduation from High School of two of our youth. We pray that God will bless them and guide them as they make their transition into adulthood, and we pray that they will hold firm in the faith, that they will cling to Jesus, that they will glorify Him in all they do, as there is no higher calling, no greater thing they could ever do. Ann and Will - Congratulations and God Bless You!!
As we celebrate this milestone, we can't help but look at the world that they're soon to be venturing into, in a way they never have before. This is a world that is unlike anything that most of us in the United States experienced at that age. Fear, violence, and intolerance seem to be everywhere you turn. Although this may be "new" to many of us, this is not unusual for many around the world, and this is not unusual in history. The time that Jesus chose to enter human history was full of wars, conquests, rules, intolerance, racism, and hatred. Jesus, knowing his purpose was not just to die for the sins of man, but also to teach, and set an example for his future apostles, did the opposite of what many thought the prophesied Messiah would do...He commanded His followers to love one another in the way that He had set the example by loving them.
Join Pastor Jason as he shows us from God's Word the example of love that Jesus gave and the lasting effects of that example on His disciples, even as He ascended back to Heaven to prepare for the arrival of the believers at some unknown point in the future. The disciples, now apostles, were changed by the love and message of Jesus and His Gospel, and in that change, they could do nothing but preach Christ and endeavor to bring change to a fallen world.

Episode 83: God of Our Fathers
Saturday Jul 18, 2020
Saturday Jul 18, 2020
For those of us fortunate to live in the United States, we have the privilege of living in a nation that was founded by people of faith, and on Christian principles. Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness were all granted to us by the founding documents. We were granted the freedom of self-determination. Christian or not, those rights were intended for all citizens of these United States of America.
For the Christian, the rights we live under have a different, a deeper meaning. Self-determination isn't all for self. Life is not a random thing. Liberty means so much more. Happiness is a joy only found in living a life in service to Christ. God is a God of freedom, and righteousness, and providence. Whether you live in the United States or not, whether July 4th is Independence Day for you or not, whether you experience freedom or persecution, all Christians have the blessing of, and the freedom to experience Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness in Christ.
Join Pastor Jason as he gives us a different perspective on the meaning of freedom and independence.

Episode 82: A Light to the Nation
Wednesday Jul 15, 2020
Wednesday Jul 15, 2020
Well, after a few weeks off, it's time to play "catch up" on the podcast (and YouTube - see link below) channels.
Does it have to be said (again) that we are currently living in the oddest time that likely any of us can remember? Pastor Jason references a simple Twitter post that's gained fame, regarding experiencing all of the major events through history...at the same time! It sure feels like that doesn't it? How does the Church, the Christians, fit in to all of this? What should we be doing (and not doing) during these unprecedented times?
At a time that the world feels (whether true or not) trapped at home, trapped by the invisible, trapped by their government, trapped by their ethnicity, trapped by the police, trapped by the bombardment of the media...the Christian has a freedom that can't be conquered by any...or all of these factors. The Christian is to utilize his freedom in ways that the world can clearly see that we...are...different! If we act and look like the world, how will the world see us? It's time to be the light, the salt, and show the lost that there is a way that leads to life and freedom.

Episode 81: An Image of Holiness
Sunday Jun 28, 2020
Sunday Jun 28, 2020
Happy Father's Day!
Do you live your life in a pattern of holiness? Do you model Christ's holiness to your friends, your family, your children? Do you even know what holiness is? God tells us in His Word to "...be holy, because I Am Holy.", but how can we do that if we don't know what that means, or how to do it? As most of us have heard throughout our lives, "ignorance of the law is no excuse", and since we have God's Word, we have no excuse.
Join Pastor Jason as he walks through a portion of 1 Peter 1 to help us understand what it means to live and model a holy life for those around us, for God's Glory. Be prepared to take some notes and answer some questions...potentially convicting questions, about where you are in your personal journey with Jesus. And then give thanks to God that He has sent the Holy Spirit to sanctify us, making us more like Christ every day.
