Today's message was preceded by the presentation of the Second Day of Advent - Peace. This was presented by Jean Wallace and Trevor Morris, with the lighting of the Peace candle.
As we travel through the advent season, and come to the day that we commemorate Peace. We must ask ourselves, if Peace is a gift from God, what are we given peace from? The answer is a simple one - conflict. As unregenerate people, dead in our sins, we are at war with our very Creator. But God, in His infinite mercy rescues His children from the curse of sin and death, and changes us from enemy combatants to joint heirs with Christ Himself. Along the new journey, through our Sanctification, we will find that we are at war with so many other things, and people, and God will lead us through to the end.
Join Pastor Jason as he lays out the journey of Christian from War with God, through War with People, and finally to Peace.

Today's message was preceded by two presentations:
First, Elbert Brady spoke on the Christmas initiative that the Gideons embark on every year, to help spread the Gospel to a lost and dying world. If you'd like to contribute you could contact the church at the contact info below, or search out your local Gideon and bless them to bless others.
Second, Kathy Snyder and Nancy House, as the first day of Advent, presented a message of Hope, and lit the Hope candle.
The world today and for nearly all of our history, has believed that there were many ways to God, that their version of Heaven is attainable by being a good person and believing whatever they believe. But the Bible presents a very different scenario. The world stands condemned because of sin, without God and without the Salvation made available through Jesus Christ, there is no hope.
Join Pastor Jason as he shows us who the one true God is, who the one true Christ is, the one way to have sins forgiven and be Saved, and the Hope that can be possessed by all.

As Christians, we are to claim these promises as our own, but much of the Christian world doesn't understand how the promises apply to them, what their responsibility is with these promises, or even what these promises are.

In a continuation of Pastor Jason's current series, he highlights the Christian's main "weapon" in the lost world...love. Why do we do missions, why do we care about the hurt, the lost, the dying, why do we donate and provide, most importantly, why do we go and tell? Love. Because we love God, because we love our neighbor, because we love our fellow Christians, we strive to do all that God has commanded us.
Join Pastor Jason as he opens the Scriptures to show us how we are to love, what love can do, and a compare and contrast between two churches.
Also today, prior to the message, in our continuing recognition of community missions, during Missions Month, Beth Sturgill from Christ's Kitchen Food Pantry in St. Albans, WV, gave us an update of what this wonderful mission is doing and how we can help, in reaching out to those in need.
